Strange but Compelling

The following story brings a new relevance to Matthew 19:12. Not in a way I can condone, and I absolutely hate to admit it, but something inside me instinctively gave a fist pump to this story. Any thoughtful insights out there?
"For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it."   Matthew 19:12

Man castrates teenage daughter's 57-year-old boyfriend

An enraged father who disapproved of his daughter's older boyfriend went to his home and castrated him with a bread knife.

Helmut Seifert, 47, an ethnic German originally from Russia, was enraged when he heard his 17-year-old daughter was having a relationship with Phillip Genscher, 57.
He went to police in the town of Bielefeld where he lives but officers said they were powerless to intervene.
"The man then recruited two work colleagues at his factory and then went to the house of the victim," said police.
"The man was forced to remove his trousers and, fully conscious, he was castrated. The severed testicles were taken away by the perpetrator."
The man was close to bleeding to death but managed to call police. His life was saved but he remains a eunuch for life.
Seifert pleaded guilty and will be on trial for attempted murder next year. But he has remained silent on who his accomplices were.
He told police: "I received a phone call anonymously that my daughter was involved with a guy 40 years older than her. You said you couldn't stop him – so I did.
"I saw it as my duty as a father."

I can identify with a parents desire to protect their children. On a certain level I can understand this mans actions. What disappoints me is the lack of desire of the human race to deal with these kind of situations. No doubt the police in this matter were prohibited by legal matters from interfering. How many times do we see it in our country where a battered woman takes out a PFA only to be later murdered by her estranged boyfriend, husband. In these types of situations where a known wrong is being committed or feared there must be a response of justice before the act can be perpetrated or continued. Obviously, no individual has the right to castrate someone such as in this particular case. However, I believe God does place a responsibility on government to punish the evil doer. Those that would take advantage of young people or committ sex offenses against anyone should be subject to some kind of punishment including pre-emptive actions in cases of abuse of minors. Castration is certainly an option in my opinion but a last option before capital punishment. It's just sad that the overwhelming attitude towards misbehavior is so liberal these days. I will say this though, the muslims don't let this kind of thing go by unnoticed. I'm not giving that faith any credence but on the subject of punishment they seem to have a better line than the rest of us, except for Texas maybe!

Heanous,
I hear you, buddy. I think the inescapable punishment for violent rape should be castration. In cases of sexual abuse of minors, that would be a possibility for men but I don't know what could be done with female perpetrators. Perhaps there are crimes so heinous, Heanous, that even though they do not cause death, they are still deserving of the death penalty. I do think a society's lack of stomach for slaying the manslayer causes more debauchery in that society, rather than less. Anyone who thinks life in prison is more humane than the death penalty is not aware of what goes on in prison.
